The Boat of Peace

Fri 12 Jan, 12 PM, Rome, at Press Room of Chamber of Deputies in Via della Missione 4, presented the details of humanitarian mission of LibanItaly and the coming publication in Arabic of South after South, last book of Nello Rega, Together Onlus President, Terra del Sole Edition.

The book faces the matter of hijab and the discovery of muslim world by an european christian. The wish of comparison, the need of dialogue and the construction of “bridges of world and peace”, get deeper in South after South, appreciated by the Arabic world for its contents of "comparison" and for the force to draw "unit" from the differences.

The publication in Arabic and the spread in 35,000 copies, foreseen in month of March, will be followed by the libanese daily newspaper "As-Safir". The ambassador of the Lebanese Republic in Italy, Melhem Mistou, will be present to the press conference as well.

On 21 January a Ship of Peace will leave to Lebanon a boat, provided by medicines, food and toys. An initiative coming from the organization Togheter ONLUS LibanItaly, sponsored by other institutions. It has had an important point of reference in the book of the journalist Nello Rega "South after South", an external eye on this martyred country, folded by many (too much) conflicts and wars but also able to represent a model of pacific and democratic cohabitation between various religious faiths.

The proceeds coming from its sale will finance the shipment of material to Beirut, planned on 21 Jan. The humanitarian mission will consist in a cargo of 60 tons including medical materials to be used by three doctors who will work in four ambulatories and hospitals placed in the South of Lebanon. 500,000 EUR of investments spent to help the Landscape of Cedars.

These four ambulatories and general medicine departments will carry the most complex cases in Italy, in agreement with the Ministry of Health. But not only. To help the local doctors colleagues, introducing them to the newest techniques still under way, i.e. in Tyre, where a surgery without blood will be able to operate also in absence of blood's bank and that will answer to the increasing demand of operations, especially after last conflict of Jul-Aug 2006.

"An other Italy", as per definition of journalist Talal Khrais, also present to the press conference, with the task to differentiate the work done by LibanItaly thanks to private donations, from the money that the world of cooperation too often wastes to reachly pay its operators.

In Feb and March, the book will be presented also in Bruxelles and Beirut. While the organizational machine, that will give life to a table of Peace in Basilicat, has already started, and the Peace's Boat is going to leave.
